I must say that I am shocked to learn that those good American and New Zealand firefighters that have come here to fight fires are receiving $600 per day, plus expenses. Is that $600 for each and every day they are here or just each and every day they fight fires? What constitutes a day? One hour, two hours or more? What are the expenses, considering that all airfares, accommodation and meals are already paid for?!?
The Government say “Oh, didn’t you know that, we thought everyone knew!” Well I didn’t and I wonder how many of the local unpaid REAL volunteer firefighters know that the imported person fighting fires next to him or her is getting rich! What about the fuss being made about reimbursing REAL volunteers for their out of pocket expenses? As if it would “break the bank”! I think it sucks!
What do you think?
